Ultimate Vocal Summit – US & Canada Tour Dates – Halloween Sheet Music

I just spent 3 amazing, sleepless days as the musical director for the Ultimate Vocal Music Summit here in Los Angeles. We mentored a group of stunningly talented young people, ranging in age from 4 to 20, and got to show them what their dreams of a life making music looked like up close. The growth I saw from them in just three days was astounding. I was on panels with songwriters, players, and producers who have all been responsible for countless hit records (I have been responsible for exactly zero hit records, but there I was anyway!), and I sang a few of my songs and told the stories behind them. But mostly, I was the musical director: I wrote band charts and arrangements for some 30 tunes. Transposed them a few times, and rewrote them, as the kids worked with their vocal coaches and got closer to their vision of how they would perform the songs. Then yesterday, I led an all-star band of amazing players – including my John Fogerty bandmate Kenny Aronoff – through a concert featuring all of the singers. And even though I was sleep-deprived nearly to the point of hallucination, and I had mostly forgotten to eat for most of the weekend, and I had stared at sheets of music until they had nearly lost all meaning, I was transported with joy as I sat behind the piano and saw the show through the eyes of these young singers who were having their musical dreams come true. Many thanks to Dawn Elder for inviting me on this journey – it was unforgettable.

And now, back to my regular life! This week I have two solo shows in Delaware (one of them opening for blues legend Joe Louis Walker!), followed by a week in Canada with John Fogerty, followed by three more solo shows in Seattle/Portland in early November. Here’s a list:

10/13: Arden, DE – Arden Gild Hall (w/Joe Louis Walker)
10/14: Wilmington, DE – Bellefonte Cafe
10/18: Abbotsford, Canada – Abbotsford Centre (w/John Fogerty)
10/19: Victoria, Canada – Save On Foods Memorial Centre (w/John Fogerty)
10/21: Calgary, Canada – The Saddledome (w/John Fogerty)
10/22: Edmonton Canada – Rogers Place (w/John Fogerty)
10/23: Fort McMurray, Alberta (w/John Fogerty)
11/3: Portland, OR – Skype Live Studio at KINK-FM
11/4: Seattle, WA – Kenyon Hall (with Arthur Migliazza)
11/5: Portland, OR – Music Millennium

Just in time for Halloween – the sheet music for my song “So What If It’s Hallowe’en” is available now! Get the sheet music and the recording at the Bob Malone Store!

MOJO DELUXE CD/DVD Pre-Release & Publicity Campaign

Click to view the MOJO DELUXE Promo Teaser Video

My new album is finished. It’s called Mojo Deluxe. A companion live DVD, “Mojo Live,” is just about to be finished. Since 2013, most of my spare time and disposable income have gone towards making these recordings a reality. Now, after 3 years of sweat, tears, happiness, frustration, long hours, bloodletting and neurosis, I want the world to hear the finished product. This is where you can help!

If you’re reading this, I’m guessing you’re a fan. If you’re a fan, you probably want to help spread the word about this music you love. Here’s your chance! I intend to hire a great promotional team and get this done the right way. Reviews in influential publications and blogs, widespread radio play, a primo late-night TV appearance – these are just a few of the things a great publicist and radio promoter can make happen.

You can make this possible simply by pre-ordering the new CD. You’ll get it 3 months before the official release date, autographed and everything! And if you want to contribute more, we have plenty of perks for you! CD and DVD bundles, t-shirts, posters, sheet music, piano lessons, and personal house concerts.

Many of you have been a part of this journey with me for years, and I couldn’t have done it without you – this is our chance to take it to the next level together!

I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead

From "Mojo Deluxe" (2015)
From “Mojo Deluxe” (2015)
I’ve been mostly off the road since December, but does that mean I’ve been resting? No sir. I’ll rest when I’m dead! For starters, I rocked the Kurzweil and QSC Audio stages at the NAMM Show. At Kurzweil, I went on right after Stevie Wonder and got some very sweet teevee news coverage on KTLA. I played with John Fogerty at Levi’s Stadium up in Silicon Valley for 70,000 hockey fans – lots of pyro! I spent 8 straight 8 hour days holed up in the studio producing a new record for excruciatingly funny comedy songstress Carla Ulbrich – even knocked out a killer big band arrangement for this one! Also, after months of stress and planning, we shot a Bob Malone concert video at the lovely Grand Annex theater in San Pedro. More days holed up in the studio mixing audio while across town, 10 cameras-worth of footage is being sifted through. The editing is about to begin! AND – my new record is done: the “Mojo Deluxe” pre-release tour begins next week and runs through the end of April. I’ll have a limited amount of the new CD at the shows and only the shows. The album officially drops on May 19. Also in May, a long stretch of John Fogerty tour dates begins, along with some Bob Malone dates in Europe, more on that soon! See you out there…
